Jigsaw Primary School in Jalan Berakas recently ushered in the Year of the Ox with an array of colourful performances.
Principal Helen Chin and parents of the students were among those present at the Chinese New Year celebration, which saw almost all students dressed in red.
The day saw prizes presented to the best performers and those best dressed for the event.
The winner of the Best Dance Troupe in upper primary category was the Primary Six female students, who staged a traditional Chinese dance.
The Best Dance Troupe in the lower primary category was won by Kindergarten II children who performed a Chinese Drum Dance.
Students of Primary 5 were the winners in the Best Lion Dance Troupe for upper primary category, while pupils from Primary 4 topped the Best Lion Dance & Dance Troupe in the upper primary category.
Meanwhile, Asna Sayyidah Nafeesa binti Hasnan was named as the Best Dressed' student, followed by Aida Syahmina binti Hj Abd Murad and Md Danish Ihtishamuddin.
The Best Card Design in the upper primary category was won by Nisa Karamina Jasmin bin Hussin, followed by Nurul Amanina Afiqah Binti Suhaimi and Nurul Awadah Nadiah Binti Suhaimi in second and third places respectively
Anati Nabielah binti Ahmad Rafiuddin took first place in the Best Card Design for lower primary, while Anati Naiemah binti Ahmad Rafiuddin took second place followed by Alisha Azaria binti Rahman in third place. The highlight of the day was the presentation of red packets the by principal to the students of the school. As a perfect closing to the celebration, a 130-metre-long roll of firecrackers was lit to ward the school of bad luck.
